Spoilers for episodes 1 to 8 only: this is what happens in each, with a still from its closing moments. Everything after that is yours to discover.
Episode 1: married to a stranger

In a waiting room, Isabel sits holding a County of Los Angeles marriage licence: "I can't believe I just got married to a stranger". Her new husband, Jared, stays behind his sunglasses, hands her his card and tells her he has to go to Italy for work. When she refuses the card, he insists: "You are my wife in law" and "An arranged marriage is still a marriage".
Isabel rings her grandmother to thank her for setting it up, then takes a call offering her a job at the Bellini Group. A caption jumps the story on by a year. Peter, the CEO's assistant, tells her Mr Bellini is finally back from a year-long business trip, and the boss sweeps in with his entourage. Isabel stares at him and wonders: "Have I seen him somewhere before?"
Episode 2: three candidates, one job

Peter warns Isabel about the boss: "A girl tried to hit on him once", and "She was fired the next day". But Mr Bellini needs an assistant, and Isabel is one of the three "most coveted candidates" Peter lines up in Bellini's office.
Bellini makes short work of the first two. Gary, who gushes that they are both Harvard graduates, is reminded that his father had to pull strings to stop him being suspended. Aries barely gets a sentence out before a one-word put-down and a curt "Next". Then Isabel starts to introduce herself, and he stops her with a sharp "Wait". Her name has caught his attention.
Episode 3: a gift for his wife

Isabel gets the job. "Starting today", Bellini announces, "Isabel will be my new personal assistant". Then his grandmother rings, and for the first time we hear his first name: Lorenzo. She reminds him: "You're married to my friend's granddaughter". He says he's just back from Italy and promises to try to see his wife tonight.
When she complains, "I haven't even seen her since you got married", he grins: "Well, that makes two of us". After the call he asks Peter what to bring a woman, and Peter suggests jewellery, perhaps a really expensive necklace. Then Lorenzo turns to his new assistant: "What do you think, Isabel?" He's asking his own wife for gift ideas for his wife, and neither of them knows it.
Episode 4: "It's Jared"

Isabel's advice is simple: he's been away a while, so maybe his wife just wants some quality time. Take her to dinner, bring her flowers, watch a film together. "Sounds perfect", says Lorenzo, and asks her to arrange it. In the corridor, Peter warns her: "He isn't into office romances". She assures him: "I'm not going to flirt with him".
That night Lorenzo phones from his car, parked outside a house. Isabel answers at the dinner table, and he tells her: "It's Jared". A glimpse of the marriage licence confirms what you've probably guessed. But Isabel doesn't catch what he says, and then a voice off screen calls "Dinner's ready". Sitting in the dark beside a bouquet of red roses and a present with a big bow, Lorenzo asks: "Why is there another man in my wife's house?"
Episode 5: trouble on the putting green

Over dinner, Isabel's housemates, Colin and Yasmine, want to know about the new boss: "Is he as attractive as he is made out to be?" Isabel says he's married and loves his wife, then admits: "He did look really familiar, though". When the talk turns to her own runaway husband, Yasmine's advice is "Never forgive him". "I won't", Isabel replies, then adds with a smile: "Even if he begs".
On a rooftop putting green, Lorenzo watches Tristan Logan, CEO of Genius Tech, while Peter and Isabel wonder whether his date went badly. Tristan invites Isabel to play golf. She says no twice, so he puts an arm around her and grabs her wrist. Lorenzo steps in, throws him to the ground and orders him to apologise to her. The episode ends on Isabel's stunned face.
Episode 6: "Unless you like her"

Tristan, still on the ground, can't believe it: "Are you kidding? We're business partners". Lorenzo's reply is cold: "Watch your mouth". So Tristan turns on Isabel with a nasty insinuation, one that takes her back to a painful memory from three years earlier.
Back in the present, Isabel stands shaken. Tristan tries to smooth things over ("Lorenzo, we can discuss this"), then pushes his luck with a smirk: "Unless you like her". The episode ends on Lorenzo's silent, furious glare.
Episode 7: "No one messes with my assistant"

Lorenzo shoves Tristan back down and ends the partnership on the spot: "Genius Tech is no longer partners with the Bellini Group". Tristan begs, but is told to leave before Lorenzo calls security. Alone with her boss, Isabel thanks him but questions whether he should have ended it. His answer: Genius Tech has been going under since Tristan took over, he would have removed him either way, and besides, "no one messes with my assistant".
Isabel is off to the shops and asks: "Do you want any gifts for your wife?" Lorenzo, still brooding over that phone call, tells himself "It might be a misunderstanding", then decides: "I'll go with you". He needs to find a restaurant to take his wife to tonight. Isabel, who is that wife, answers with a small, rueful smile.
Episode 8: "Are you afraid of me?"

Later, in a dimly lit lounge, Lorenzo holds out an open ring box: "Do you think she'll like this?" Isabel's reaction: "10 carat diamond ring?" Then she adds: "I mean, I know I would".
She checks her phone: Genius Tech's CEO, Tristan Logan, has been injured in a car accident. "Did you know about this?" she asks. Lorenzo, perfectly calm, replies: "Lucky he only lost one arm". As she stares at him, he asks quietly: "Are you afraid of me?" The episode ends before she answers.
